Praying Times in Egypt
Hi everyone. I am in Cairo, Egypt, around 7:20 PM right now, and I’m saying the time to you because I want this video to be about the prayer times, which is so important for this culture.
I have come to learn about the five times that they have to pray every single day. And normally, it’s expected from 5:00 AM as the first prayer and it’s usually about 10 minutes each time, so it adds up to be about 50 to one hour a day. And this is what they devote their right time to pray to that God, so 5:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM and then 7:00 PM.
What sparked me to do this video as we were driving through old Cairo, was the speakers all around the city. They’re actually almost like an alarm where you will just suddenly hear praying happen in the city really loud so that you can be alerted to the fact that it’s time to pray.
It’s amazing to me that this is what the culture is and it’s so important for them to pray. And it’s so fascinating and so beautiful at the same time.
Anyway, I am here with my private guide today in Egypt. And I’m just learning a lot. And specifically today, right now at this moment, I just was inspired to do a video about praying and the five times they do that.
So hopefully I gave you some inspiration and some value about how the Egyptian Arabic culture thinks about their prayers and their God.
